Desktop Apps & Unsupported Setups
SOAP Note Buddy’s Auto Fill feature works with web-based EMR systems running in Chrome or Safari. Some setups are not compatible with Auto Fill, but you can still use AI Note to generate your clinical documentation.
Setups That Don’t Support Auto Fill
- Desktop-only applications that are installed on your computer and do not run in a web browser.
- Embedded desktop apps in browser frames where the EMR runs a desktop application inside an iframe or browser wrapper. The extension cannot access fields inside these embedded frames.
- Some complex iframe layouts where the EMR loads clinical forms inside nested iframes with restricted access.
How to Tell If Auto Fill Will Work
If you can open your EMR in Chrome or Safari and interact with the fields by clicking and typing directly in the browser, Auto Fill should work. If the EMR opens a separate desktop window or the browser frame displays an embedded application, Auto Fill will not be able to detect the fields.
Use AI Note Instead
When Auto Fill is not available, AI Note is your alternative:
- Open the SOAP Note Buddy extension.
- Select your patient and enter the daily summary.
- Click “AI Note” to generate a complete clinical note.
- Copy the generated note.
- Paste it into your EMR, whether that is a desktop app, mobile app, or any other system.
AI Note generates the same high-quality clinical documentation. The only difference is that you paste the text manually instead of having it filled automatically.
Fields Not Being Detected?
If you are using a web-based EMR but fields are not being detected, try refreshing the page and running Auto Fill again. Some EMRs load fields dynamically. If the issue persists, AI Note is always available as a reliable fallback. Contact [email protected] if you need help.
