Do I Need IT Approval?

No. SOAP Note Buddy is an individual browser extension that you install yourself. No IT approval, EMR configuration, or administrator involvement is required.

Why No IT Approval Is Needed

• No EMR integration. SOAP Note Buddy does not connect to your EMR’s API, database, or backend systems. It works at the browser level, reading and filling the page you already have open.
• No data access requests. The extension does not request access to your organization’s systems or networks.
• Individual install. You install it from the Chrome Web Store or the App Store, just like any other browser extension.
• No server-side changes. Nothing is installed on your organization’s servers or EMR infrastructure.

How Your Data Is Protected

SOAP Note Buddy is built with HIPAA compliance in mind:

• Patient data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it.
• When generating notes, only de-identified clinical summaries are sent to the AI. All protected health information (names, dates of birth, contact information, identifiers) is scrubbed before anything leaves your browser.
• The AI service runs on HIPAA-compliant infrastructure with a Business Associate Agreement in place.

SOAP Note Buddy is designed for individual clinicians. Many physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and nurses use it on their own without employer involvement. It works alongside your existing EMR workflow without changing anything about how your organization operates.
