Understanding the Interface
Here’s a quick tour of the main screens and features you’ll use in SOAP Note Buddy.
Patient List
The home screen shows all your patients. From here you can:
- Tap a patient to select them and begin documenting.
- Click the + button to add a new patient.
- Use quick actions on each patient card to edit their eval summary, view note history, or delete the record.
Daily Summary
After selecting a patient, you’ll see the daily summary input. This is where you describe what happened during today’s visit. You can:
- Type your summary directly.
- Dictate using the built-in voice recorder — tap the microphone icon, speak naturally, and the transcription fills in automatically.
The daily summary is the primary input the AI uses alongside the patient’s eval summary and note history.
Main Actions
Below the daily summary, you’ll find two main buttons:
- Auto Fill — Detects and fills fields directly in your web-based EMR. Best when you have your EMR open in the browser.
- AI Note — Generates a standalone formatted note you can copy and paste anywhere.
Additional Features
- Chat — Ask follow-up questions, request changes to a generated note, or get clinical language suggestions through the built-in AI chat.
- Note History — Previous note summaries are stored for each patient, giving the AI context to maintain continuity across visits.
- Custom Instructions — Set preferences for writing style, terminology, or specific documentation requirements. Find this in Settings.
- Settings — Access your account, subscription, and documentation preferences from the gear icon.
Navigation
Use the icons along the bottom or top of the extension to switch between the patient list, chat, and settings screens. The interface is designed to stay out of your way — most workflows take just a few clicks.
