No Fields Detected
If SOAP Note Buddy reports “No fields detected” when you try to use Auto Fill, there are several things to check.
Basic Steps
- Refresh the page and wait for it to fully load before trying again. Some EMR systems load content dynamically, and fields may not be available immediately.
- Make sure you are on the right page. Auto Fill works on documentation and charting pages where you enter clinical notes. It will not detect fields on summary views, dashboards, or patient lists.
- Wait a few seconds after the page loads. Some EMRs render fields with a delay, especially after navigating between sections.
How Field Detection Works
SOAP Note Buddy automatically expands collapsed sections, clicks toggle buttons, and opens accordion panels to find hidden fields. This process runs automatically — you do not need to manually expand anything. However, if your EMR has an unusual interface, some fields may not be reachable through this process.
When Auto Fill Cannot Reach Your Fields
Some situations where field detection may not work:
- Desktop-embedded applications that run inside a browser frame but are not standard web pages
- Iframe-based EMRs where the charting area is loaded in a nested frame
- Non-standard UI components that do not use standard HTML form elements
In these cases, use AI Note instead. AI Note generates your clinical note as text that you can copy and paste into any system, regardless of how the EMR is built.
